Movie Review – The Martian

Matt Damon really made this entire movie. It was well done, with a good story. The visuals are intersting, and it’s always fun to consider what life will be like as we start to colonize other planets. It also sparked my interest in horticulture! I couldn’t imagine being left to colonize a planet on my own. I like Mark Watleys humour and spunk. The character was very loveable and easy to relate to. Somebody you would want to go back to rescue for sure! A good film for anyone to watch! I would rate this film a 8.0 out of 10.

Movie Review – Magic Mike XXL

This movie gets a bad reputation just due to the fact that it is based on male stripping. People automatically assume because it stars Channing Tatum and it’s about stripping, that it is garbage. I have never been to a stripper in my life, but I do appreciate dance, art and beauty. This movie truly does accompany all these things. It was funny, it was sexy, it was beautiful and it was entertaining. The cast of cool celebrity appearances goes on and on in this movie. Childish Gambino (Donald Glover or you may know him as Troy from the TV show Community) Twitch (from The TV show So You Think You Can Dance) as well as Jada Pinkett-Smith’s appearances were awesome. I love how the one stripper is spiritual now and doing reiki, and how they consider themselves as healers helping women have fun and feel beautiful. It’s always great to see spiritual awareness in movies, even if there is fun being poked at it. The story is not so much what is captivating about this film, but more the way the film makes you feel. It really envokes a sense of fun and passion. The eye candy doesn’t hurt at all either! If you love dance, sexy men, and just want to have some fun and feel good, give this movie a watch! Although it has lower ratings elsewhere on the web, I would rate this film a 7.4 out of 10. It was definitely worth the watch!

Movie Review – Fury

Having recently watched the movie, American Sniper, it reminded me that I really should do a review of Fury. My boyfriend and I both agreed that Fury was a much better film between the 2. The actors were engaging and entertaining. Although it was a war movie, and I am not usually a big fan of war type movies, this one was enjoyable. The subject matter was interesting and captivating. Brad Pitt is solid as per usual. Shia LaBeouf never disappoints. Logan Lerman was definitely suitable in his role as the newbie. Michael Pena is solid in every film I have ever seen him in. Jon Bernthal is also a unique actor that brings a ton of artistic flavor to the movie, he is one of the most interesting actors, especially the character he plays in this movie. Besides the boat load of amazing and talented actors, this film depicts a true sense of honor and pride, strength and courage. I would rate this film a 8.2 out of 10. This blog is just my opinion!

Movie Review – The Skeleton Twins

I’ll be honest, when I put this movie on, I had never heard of it and had no idea what it was about. Let me tell you, I truly enjoyed this movie. It was enjoyable and entertaining. The characters were lovable and believable in their roles. The story was heart wrenching and so relatable. I love anything that brings awareness to the topics of suicide and depression, and this film was so great because it was realistic, yet not too dark. I really felt the love this film captured within its story. I also appreciated the way the movie explored relationship dynamics. This film kept me entertained and interested the whole way through. I would suggest it for any adults to watch! I would rate this movie a 7.8 out of 10. This blog is just my opinion!

Movie Review – Godzilla

I’m sure I am awake… I am sure I just sat through this movie?? This one just couldn’t pull me in. Boring visuals, scenes and premises we have seen time and again. The army guys save the day and fight the big scary monster. I was probably over it before it even began. Honestly, I can look at the above picture alone, and feel like I have just saw the best part of the movie, and pretty much the only really cool thing to see in the film. Snooze fest for me. Maybe true Godzilla fans get something more out of this, but it was a huge let down for me. I rate this film 3.5 out of 10. This blog is just my opinion!!

Movie Review – Transformers 4 Age of Extinction

I am a pretty big Mark Wahlberg fan, since way back when he did the unforgettable movie Fear. I have to say I was slightly disappointed in Transformers 4. For one, it was too long. I couldn’t even enjoy it in one sitting, and that sometimes takes away from a movie for me. I also felt the movie just didn’t capture “my heart”. The actors and their roles seemed so overdone or superficial. Why can’t a movie and it’s characters feel more real and natural, why do they always have to have the typical beautiful chick, like it’s a necessity to work one of those in. The dragons were cool, and the imagery is always good on Transformers movies, but the lack of connection to a real audience is where it loses me I guess. Still a good film and worth the watch! I would rate this film a 6.8 out of 10. This blog is just my opinion! Thank you for reading!

Movie Review – Heaven is for Real

Heaven is for Real

Having read this book, I was really looking forward to this movie when I heard it was being made. I don’t understand, when a lead character in a film is played by a child, you have to make sure they fit the role and can play the part believably… sort of the most important thing to me. I am not trying to be harsh, the young man who plays Colton is adorable, super super cute, but the acting for me just didn’t bring the film to the level I had hoped it to be. Compare this to Jerry Macguire… the child who plays Ray is adorable, and not the best actor in the world, but makes the role still feel believable. Compare to The Little Rascals… you can tell by the outtakes the kids were hard to film, but the production of the film was so good they made it absolutely believable and lovable! Needless to say, I was a little bored and the acting just didn’t captivate me. I wish the story would’ve been told in a more inventive and creative way, not sure how, but it just seemed like the bare minimum they could do. I would rate this film 4 out of 10. That’s just my opinion!

Movie Review – Anchorman 2

I thought this movie was hilarious!! It kept me laughing all the way through. Especially the part when he goes blind. Anchorman is one of my favorite films, a classic comedy that never gets old. Will Ferrell just can’t be beat for humour, and Ron Burgundy is his best role, I would say. Christina Applegate has been a favorite of mine since “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead”. Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are solid as always too, and also are favorites of mine. I would give this film a 7.8 out of 10. This blog is just my opinion.
